Strategic planning for schools

The School Strategic Plan is future set of action for coming years, including the school's mission, values and environmental context, as well as goals, targets and key improvement strategies in the outcome of:

Student learning

Student engagement and wellbeing

Student pathways and transitions.

The school strategic plan is developed for the purpose of the self evaluation, review and planning. The feedback will be informed to the management by the evaluation of collected data and information through staff, student and parent consultation and engagement with relevant community agencies as per the identified directions. The strategic planner will assist schools to prioritize their key improvements strategies, capture the activities year-by-year, and identify the desired changes in practice and behaviours. The school strategic plan is changes with the changing trends of the external environment. If the external environment changes it is possible for the strategic plan to be updated .So schools are encouraged to share their school strategic plan with their community.

In the above backdrop, the Minneapolis Public Schools, including its Board of Education, started a strategic planning process to address some of our District's biggest and most complex issues. A team consists of representatives from al the district's many stakeholder groups and members of the board, with the donated their support towards understanding the current situation of K-12 public education in Minneapolis by:

Collecting contribution from variety of investors including parents, students, teachers, principals, and the community at large.

Analyzing the district's financial, student achievement, and student enrollment data and projections.

Studying development initiatives commenced in other districts across the country.

Based on the collected information in this phase, the strategic team identified the major issues of the district and developed various options for possible solutions. Regular meetings with teachers, and other discussions throughout the community gained some solutions. The received feedback helped to propose a set of recommendations to work on initiatives of the magnet school study, school closings and program changes. Strategic plan helps the schools to maximize your strengths, foresee your threats, reduce your weaknesses, and take advantage of future opportunities.  A well framework of a strategic plan will guide your school throughout in turmoil times.
