Financial aid medical schoolNowadays, Financial Aid is becoming more critical for medical students. The better financial sources are employment, aid directly from a private source, federal scholarship programs and grants, and federal loans. These funds are not sponsored by the medical schools. Students need to look for Financial Aid alternatives outside their college. Financial Aid from private sources is a difficult process and many of the private organizational are established to assist medical eductaion.For Few of the hospitals and health-care-providing organizations sponsors scholarships to medical students in return of agreement of service to their organization. Several states designed their own loan-repayment programs which vary from state to state. Unlike other Financial Aid, medical students are having limited scholarship programs. Major types of medical scholarships are: Exceptional Financial Need Scholarship: It involves primary care commitment Financial Assistance for Disadvantaged Health Professions Students Scholarship The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program: It is an outstanding program established by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Service. The NHSC offers competitive support-for-service scholarships for tuition and educational fees, books, supplies, as well as a monthly stipend. All the registered U.S. allopathic or osteopathic medical schools are eligible for this program. This program mainly selects the people come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Most of the medicos receive financial assistance in the form of loans like: Federal Stafford Loan for medical students up to $8,000 for two semesters Federal Supplemental Loan for medical students up to $10,000 Health Education Assistance Loan (HEAL) Medloans, Health Professions Loans to the primary care commitment only Loans for Disadvantaged Students. Finding a private lender and selecting the suitable aid programs are the followed steps of the Financial Aid Process. However, Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans are typical to eligible, because the government pays the eight percent interest amount on the loan. But Unsubdized loans are not paid by the government. Sallie Mae established Medloans program to help allopathic medical students. TERI offers the Professional Education Loan Program (PEP) for allopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine and dentistry. Scholarships National Health Service Corps and National Institutes of Health designed some scholarships to assist medical students apart from the above Financial Aid Programs.
