Financial aid kentuckyKentucky Financial Aid provides financial assistance to the students of various Kentucky colleges, universities, career colleges, technical colleges, vocational colleges, technical schools, vocational schools, and online degree programs. Financial aid helps you pay the educational costs of students, comes from a variety of sources. The initial step begins with filling FASFA. The minimum eligibility requirements for the dependent students are: Should be born before January 1, 1986. Must be married and enrolled for a master's program in 2009-2010. Various types of Kentucky financial aid programmes are: Grants: Grants are a kind of financial awards which does ‘not require repayment. The main grant programs are the Federal Pell Grant (Pell), Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), College Access Program (CAP) Grant, and Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG). Pell grants and FSEOG are sponsored by the federal Government and CAP and KTG are state programs administered by KHEAA. State grant programs Federal grant programs Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded to the students who have special talent, academic, athletic, or service. These are merit based and do not require to be repaid. The Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) is the major state scholarship. Work-study: Work-study encourages students earn money through part time jobs to pat their educational costs. The KHEAA Work-Study Program ifs offered by the federal government, provides employment t the students of Kentucky. Student loans: About two-thirds of students apply for higher education and require taking out student loans. Loans are repayable financial aids offered by a bank, government, or a school. Student loans facilitated with less interest rates. The most important loan program includes Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Stafford Loans and Federal PLUS Loans (for parents). Conversion scholarships/loans: Conversion scholarships/loans facilitate assured services for a period of time. The students need to repay the loan amount with interest. Conversion scholarships include the KHEAA Teacher Scholarship and the Osteopathic Medicine Scholarship. Waivers: Waivers program helps in reducing certain amount of fees to the students who meet the prescribed qualifications. Kentucky offers waivers for: Adopted and foster children Dependents of deceased employees participating in state-administered retirement systems Dependents of disabled employees participating in state-administered retirement systems. Dependents of deceased or totally disabled Kentucky veterans Military benefits: These are the benefits provided to the U.S. military service. Kentucky military benefits include: Kentucky Air National Guard Education Assistance. Kentucky Army National Guard Federal Tuition Assistance. Kentucky National Guard Montgomery GI Bill. Kentucky National Guard Montgomery GI Bill Kicker. Kentucky National Guard Tuition Award. Prepaid tuition: Kentucky offers initial payment of tuition fees through the prepaid tuition financial aid program. Guarantees fully paid tuition for a fixed number of credit hours at a participating school. The Kentucky state offers The Kentucky Education Savings Plan Trust (KESPT), which is benefited to the 529-colleges of Kentucky State. It is managed by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA), to save Kentucky families for future college expenses. Service award: Service Award is designed to receive education costs in return for national or community service through the AmeriCorps program.
